The Amazing Easter Egg Hunt!!!!! During Easter in term 1, Room 22 did an Easter egg hunt, but there was a twist.....the twist was our buddy had to be...BLIND FOLDED!!!  We had to direct our buddy using position and orientation language such as turn clockwise 90 degrees. This was a fun easter activity, mostly because we got to eat the eggs. YUMM!   As you can see Joel and Reign were struggling to get these wonderful eggs. This was pretty tricky because we had to solve some riddles and follow the clues to the next destination.
What a fun math activity that was!

Polygon Fun

Polygon Fun!
In Room 22, we did a challenge using our new equipment to see how many nets we could make for a square base pyramid.  What is a square base pyramid you ask?
It looks exactly like the pyramids in Egypt!!

Take a look at our outcomes! Can you think of any more nets for square based pyramids?

During this term we have be doing a lot of fun activities which gave us inspiration for our writing.

Our next theme is the ever clever Dr Suess!

We have been reading many of his stories and favourite stories so far would have to be "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish," and "A Fox in Sox".
We found that the story "A Fox in Sox", had lots of tongue twisters.  We practised trying to say them, however we found it so difficult it resulted in us having a good laugh when having a go!

Try this one below!

Miss Cooney had the first go at showing us a Dr Suess themed story. Have a read... what do you think?

Dr Seuss Week
One bat, two bat, three bat, flat bat. Flat bat was unfortunately squished on a mat. The fat ginger cat sat on the bat which was flat on the mat. Naughty cat!
Off the cat walked out the door. This naughty cat was off to explore. Explore more? Why would this naughty cat walk out the door to explore more?
Cat continued on, off up the hill. L…
Saving the PLANET!!!!
As a senior school we wanted to do something about keeping our school clean and tidy. Each class decided to take turns at being responsible for the rubbish in the playground (Yay for the 3 Bs).
Not only is rubbish bad for our environment, it affects animals too.  Take a look at this video to see the devastating effects that rubbish can have on our beautiful animals :(

On our ventures we saw a lot of rubbish.  Our challenge to you, is to see how many pieces of rubbish you can collect in one lunch time.
We wonder what the record would be?
Right, are you ready for the challenge?
We look forward to hearing back about how it went!
Good Luck!!!
PS- here's a picture of us after one of our clean ups!

In room 22 we have been very busy, we have been doing a lot of experiences to give us some awesome things to write about.

We wanted to share this awesome science experiment with you called "The Black Snake".

NOTE: This science experiment was done in a controlled environment and should NOT be attempted at home. :)

For our ingredients we needed.
-Bicarbonate of soda

For our equipment we needed.
-Lighter fluid
-Measuring jug
-Measuring spoons

We decided to come up with a hypothesis.  Some of us thought that is was going to burn up really fast, some thought it might even pop and jump out of the bowl.

However, when we tested our hypothesis we found that the bicarbonate of soda let off carbon dioxide gas which cause the sugar to expand!

Interesting huh!

Take a look at our cool pictures.  We took a photo of the flame, we thought it looked like a fox.  Can you see it?

Welcome to the Dream Team!

Nau mai haere mai ki te tima dream team.

Room 22 has 24 fabulous learners.  We follow the 3Bs both in the classroom and in the playground, and because we are senior school students we act as role models for the entire school!!

Aren't we incredible!!

Tune in to keep up to date with our class throughout this year.
